Quintet Op. 7

$20.00

Quintet, Op. 7 for flute, oboe, clarinet, viola, and cello explores timbral and textural contrasts within a non-programmatic framework. The instrumentation was inspired by Prokofiev’s Quintet Op. 39, Prokofiev being a composer I deeply respect and admire. This composition is my first that doesn’t feature a piano part, and is representative of my values as a composer. It exists in a dialogue with my career as a performer, collaborative pianist, and lover of classical music. Quintet Op. 7 explores captivating, exalting, and expressive dialogues between the instruments, classical formal structure, romantic phrases, and some 20th century spark. Composed with specific performers in mind, the quintet celebrates the talents of close friends and colleagues, resulting in a work that is both technically demanding and deeply personal.
